Managing Partner

Lee Hughes

Lee is a Partner in our Residential Conveyancing department.

Areas of Expertise
Lee joined Arnold Greenwood as a solicitor in 2013. He specialises in the sale and purchase of residential property including leasehold property, staircasing, lease extensions, transfers and re-mortgaging and has a significant experience in dealing with unusual properties.

Lee also deals with some commercial property work including the sale and purchase of commercial properties and the taking and granting of commercial leases.

Lee acts for individuals, companies and charities.

Outside of work
Much of Lee’s time is taken up with a young family and in upgrading the family home (an ongoing project). When time allows, Lee enjoys travelling, cycling (fair weather only) and skiing during the winter months.

Partner and Head of Private Client

Alison Peel

Alison is a Partner and head of our Wills, Trusts and Private Client department.

Areas of Expertise

Alison leads our Private Client department and is a full member of STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners), reflecting her recognised expertise in this field.

She undertakes a broad range of private client work, with particular experience in wills, powers of attorney, estate administration and trusts.

Outside of work

As part of a family of keen fell runners, Alison has embraced the challenge and joined them on the fells. Away from work, she enjoys spending quality time with her family in the Lake District, and her next goal is to bag all the Wainwrights.

Danielle McNerney

Danielle is a Partner in our Residential Conveyancing department.

Areas of Expertise
Danielle joined Arnold Greenwood as a Trainee Solicitor in 2017. She worked for the firm in the Estate Agency and as a Legal Secretary during her studies, since 2016. She specialises in the sale and purchase of residential property including leasehold property, transfers, new-build property and re-mortgaging and has experience in all areas of residential conveyancing.

Outside of work
Dani enjoys visiting her family in Ireland during her spare time. She also likes travelling, spin, reading, netball and eating out. While in Kendal, Dani spends most of her time with her pup, Jorah, the Irish Doodle.

Stephen Pooley

Stephen is a Consultant Partner and head of our Commercial Property department.

Areas of Expertise
Stephen joined Arnold Greenwood as a solicitor in 1982.  He specialises in commercial and property law work, including agriculture and the hotel and leisure industry, sales and purchases of businesses, and the taking and granting of leases for all types of businesses.

Stephen also deals with land and property transfers, the sale and purchase of residential property, and has acted and continues to act for a number of clients and their families over many years.

Outside of work
Stephen is married with two grown up children and is now a proud grandparent.  Stephen enjoys involvement in the local community and has a particular interest in education, being involved for many years with the Queen Katherine School, Kendal.  Stephen’s sporting interests include rugby, football and cricket, as a spectator these days, and he particularly enjoys the outdoors.

Jennifer Sparks

Jennifer is an associate solicitor in our Residential Conveyancing department.

Areas of Expertise
Jennifer joined Arnold Greenwood as a trainee solicitor in 2007, qualifying as a solicitor in 2010. She specialises in the sale and purchase of residential property including both freehold and leasehold property, new build properties, shared-ownership properties, transfers and re-mortgaging and gifts of property.

Outside of work
Jennifer is a mum of two and spends a lot of time outdoors with her family. In her spare time she loves nothing better than getting stuck into a good book, dancing badly to old music or going for a swim.

Solicitor and Head of Family Law

Deborah Brownson MBE

Deborah is an associate solicitor and head of our Family Law department.

Area of expertise
Deborah has extensive experience in most areas of litigation and has worked in many different legal sectors. She specialises in divorce, separation, financial divorce settlements, high net worth clients, clients from farming/rural backgrounds, disputes about child contact, pre/post nuptial contracts and cohabitation contracts.

Deborah qualified as a solicitor in 1999.

Outside of Work
Deborah is married with two grown up sons. She enjoys spending her free time writing books, cooking, baking, reading, weight training, fell walking with her two dogs, travelling and attending festivals. In 2018, she received an MBE for her global autism awareness work.

Associate Solicitor

David Clarke

David is an associate solicitor in our Wills, Trusts and Private Client department.

Areas of Expertise
David specialises in the preparation of Wills, estate administration, Trusts, inheritance tax and estate planning, Powers of Attorney, and also undertakes Court of Protection applications. David is a member of STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) and holds the STEP Diploma in Trusts and Estates. David is also a member of the Law Society’s Private Client Section.

Career
David changed career in 2011 after studying Law at the Open University and the University of Law, qualifying as a solicitor in 2013 at a North Cumbrian Law firm where he went on to be head of the private client department.
David joined Arnold Greenwood Solicitors in 2022.

Outside of work
David enjoys holidays in Brittany, reading, and dog walking.

Robert Feather

Robert is a solicitor in our Private Client and Family Departments.

Areas of Expertise

Robert joined Arnold Greenwood as legal support in 2021, then started a training contract with Arnold Greenwood in 2023 as a trainee solicitor. Robert qualified as a solicitor in 2025.

He specialises in Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, and dealing with estate administration. Robert also assists in the Family department with divorce, financial remedies, and separation matters.

Outside of Work

Robert has a keen interest in sport and regularly follows a range of events. He is a committed supporter of Manchester United, an exercise in resilience at recent times, and closely follows the Formula 1 calendar.

Shona is a solicitor within the firm.

Kayleigh Holleran

Kayleigh is a trainee solicitor working in family, private client and conveyancing.

Areas of Expertise
Kayleigh joined Arnold Greenwood in 2025 as a Trainee Solicitor and is currently studying a master’s degree in Solicitor’s Practise whilst preparing for her upcoming qualifying exams.

She specialises in private client matters including the drafting of wills, Lasting Power of Attorney, the administration of estates and trusts, and also assists in conveyancing and family matters.

Kayleigh values quality time with her two children and enjoys reading on her Kindle.

Senior Associate

Clare Fleming

Clare is a senior associate in the probate team

Areas of Expertise
Clare joined Arnold Greenwood in 2026 as a Senior Associate. Clare qualified as a solicitor in 2005 and worked for a number of regional firms in the South East of England until relocating to the North West in 2020.

She specialises in private client matters including the drafting of Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney, inheritance tax planning and the administration of estates and trusts.

She is both approachable and proactive and prides herself on providing an efficient and client focused service.

In 2025 Clare was ranked as Tier 1 in the High Net Worth Chambers Guide. She is also a recognised solicitor in the Legal 500.

Outside of work
Clare enjoys swimming and considers her ‘mastermind subject’ to be 90s pop music.
